it is a round house, in wood, which rotates with the sun. A green home ? A priori yes, by selecting durable species and untreated, son isolation, synonymous heating economy, and rotation which provides the possibility of regulating the room temperature.

Not only the "Domespace" adopts, as its name suggests, the dome-shaped, but some models running on their base, for varying the orientation according to the season. Science-fiction ? Non. This is a home after all "homegrown", all wood except the concrete slab, and a very affordable price, provided you have Domespace delivered in a kit and assemble it yourself. The mounting of the prefabricated elements is, according to the owners of DOMESPACE, within range of a good handyman. Some had never had any experience of the labor cocoon bois.Un.

There is 18 years, Patrick Marsilli pioneered the concept of DOMESPACE, the round wooden house that turns on itself. The prototype was built in Neuziou and is now the home of the designer and his famille.Dans months, DOMESPACE emigrate to Quimper. In 1994, a dome-house destined to welcome visitors and to house the company's administrative offices was born Laennec Street in Scaër. DOMESPACE focuses on promoting, design, marketing houses domes. It then uses suppliers to get the different elements it delivers to its customers, the latter being responsible themselves editing or making do with a company. DOMESPACE far had only one manufacturing activity. In some months, the company headquarters will be transferred to Quimper.

No relocation in the Czech Republic
"There is no movement of the Czech Republic in activity as has been recently wrote, says Patrick Marsilli. We have suppliers in this country, products we metallic crowns. The cedar of coverage comes from Canada, cork from Portugal and light woods of Scandinavia. The fact that we left Scaer was interpreted as an offshoring ". A new showroom is being assembled near future northern bypass in the district of Gourvily.

More coverage Production
Domespace a connu, at the beginning of the decade, financial difficulties. The company had to give real estate leasing to a minority shareholder who declined thereafter, a capital increase. " Thereby, we were stuck and we could not develop our activity on Scaer, because banks were not following. He also asked us to leave the premises we currently use Laennec Street ". Recall that DOMESPACE had bought land on the Mined-Rulan area 2, always in Scaër, to build a new workshop for manufacturing hedges. "There will be more coverage of production nor in Scaër or France, we will buy roofing elements elsewhere ". The company will continue its activities from Quimper : the three administrative employees keep their jobs, but the carpenter had to be dismissed.

A saucer in the olive trees…

Apparently this site will replace: the official website that no longer exists ! sniff ! sniff !

The form of construction is already atypical. Round, it is inspired by traditional igloos or habitats such as yurts and evokes friendliness. It is also advantageous because it provides highly efficient thermal and acoustic insulation favored by its composition and wood is very weather resistant. The house is in fact constituted 90% Of wood, renewable material. It is also very light as provided on its entire glass surface and therefore very pleasant. Furthermore, as there is no structural wall, the interior spaces are adjustable to envy. But its greatest asset is the fact that it is a revolving house. With beads on which is mounted the house and movement created by the inhabitant, the DOMESPACE turns on itself. But we can also turn the house with the built-gear motor. The habitat is programmable by computer which allows the construction of turn with the sun. So, it allows for heating costs in winter and cooling in summer. Furthermore, we can isolate the sound of storms or other positioning the rooms on the opposite side to the wind. From an aesthetic point of view, you can also change the vision that we want to have from his window. There is no impression that the house turns ; you have to take a fixed point to really realize.

You will be able to follow the construction of our house DOMESPACE round rotating timber 7,63 m radius. It's in 2005 that the project we are engaged in now has started..

We document us on wooden houses and randomly search the net we came across the website of Patrick MARSILLI.

The DOMESPACE seemed to fit what we were looking, the warmth and beauty of wood combined with an energy-efficient house due to its shape approaching the sphere. Spherical like a hot air balloon that offers a minimum surface area of heat loss compared to the interior volume contained. Since 2005 the rise in energy prices has only reinforce our choice….November 2005 first meeting with Patrick Marsilli and DOMESPACE house in Scaer.

The concept responded to what we expected in every way. In February 2006 bought a farm abandoned for 20 years (at 500 m of our present home) or we could both build our DOMESPACE and renovate buildings to house the activity balloon, repair shop and storage of all balloons and gondolas. Then have chained on 2 year tours of several sizes only in the harmonic range for this concept we could enroll in the rotation of the house to make the most of the energy supplied by the sun.

Visits of older Domespaces 15 years,E 7,20 Saintes being finished ,Domespace Grill de Guéret, E8,71 à Anemasse , E 7.63 Brittany and the new DOMESPACE 8.71 the company in Quimper. Our choice was finally arrested on a harmonic 7,63 for heating with a small round mass stove in the center. November 2007 demand planning permission accepted beginning in January -March 2008.Février 2008 development of plans and permit application to build with Patrick Frydmann architect with extensive knowledge of the concept of home DOMESPACE. Deposit the permit application to build early April 2008 and 21 May 2008 permission granted. What makes that obtaining a building permit for a DOMESPACE is not more complicated than for any other type of home.

Previously on the advice of Patrick and Patrick Marsilli Frydmann we met the mayor of Cerizay and the head of the town community who set up the PLU on the town manager and permit files to build. Following all meetings the interlocutors were supportive of the project especially as concept meets the current concerns in terms of ecological and economical habitat energy. Delivery of the first items in December 2008 or January 2009…Domespace success requires.
So we have 6 months to prepare Area, pouring the concrete slab,do the different techniques trenches, Canadian well, Water and electricity arrival, septic tank with wastewater treatment plants by macrophytes.

The assembly of prefabricated elements is within the reach of a good handyman.

The mounting of the prefabricated elements is, according to the owners of DOMESPACE, within range of a good handyman. Some had never had any experience of woodworking.

"The pieces of wood are very well adjusted. You have to be very strict on materials assembly order and wait to have received everything before starting construction. The central slab and raceway require high accuracy, perfectly horizontal. In total, the realization took seven months, the leisure time with the help of two people ! It is worthwhile because a DOMESPACE turnkey and mounted by a company costs approximately twice ". demonstrates an owner.

DOMESPACE creates the new generation of environmentally houses with SolidWorks –
France

There are many years, I wanted to become an architect. I worked in a company and I followed a few short courses in a school of architecture before realizing that my creative abilities were not at the required level. If I could do what I wanted at the time, all structures built today have an orientation and angles recalling the Bauhaus school. I've always been interested in building design business and that's why I found it interesting that the French company, Domespace, among the SolidWorks Customer.

Domespace International designs and builds eco-friendly domed homes. For this company, the dome shape is more in harmony with nature, operates the solar radiation optimally, and reacts better to seismic and cyclonic forces angular structures. Some models even provide a rotation of the external structures of the houses in order to follow the sun in winter and make the most of its rays and its heat, or to get more out of the shade and cool in summer.

Domespace relies on SolidWorks Professional to develop concepts, on SolidWorks Premium to design structures, and SolidWorks Flow Simulation to study airflow and environmental conditions. They managed to halve their time to market and development costs. In a case study on our website, Benjamin Thoby, Head of IT - Research and Development, explains how 3D design and simulation technology has enabled DOMESPACE to start his production houses environmentally, industry benchmark, in the best conditions. Your industry may be different from the FAC, but this information could still interested.

SkyDome Russian Society

Develops inexpensive wooden igloo-like structures.

Living in an igloo, it tempts you ?

Skydome has created a series of housing of a rounded structure in the Moscow region. These homes are relatively inexpensive to build, especially compared to the price of a studio in Moscow.

Skydome has 6 different models that vary in size, houses can range from 34 m² up to 300 m². Although the living space varies, the construction of each house uses the same techniques to ensure sustainable housing, using environmentally friendly materials such as glass, wood and linen for insulation.

Thanks to the curved walls, the house is energy efficient and has a low rate of heat loss, air circulation occurs naturally. The dome shape also allows some unique advantages for construction and decoration. There are no mature carriers which offers a large interior space and a wide choice of customization of the house..

Structures can also withstand bad weather, especially in the snow. Its aerodynamic design can support up to 700 kg of snow per square meter and withstand winds of 250 km / h. A new lifestyle in full development.

  1. Hello Virginie,
I loved your article. The idea is really great.
I just did a research on the domespace house, but unfortunately I can't find a site and the only site http://www.domespace.com/ does not exist anymore.
Do you know if the sale of its round houses still exists please ?
    Very good Sunday to you.

  2. Hello,

I'm contacting you because being in the last year of architecture study in Switzerland, I have to write a thesis on a construction topic.

I am very interested and motivated to choose the houses “Domespace” as the subject of this latest work.

However, before selecting this theme, I would like to know if you would be ready to provide me with the documentation (details, plans, cuts,..) and the information necessary for the development of this work.

Please confirm if you would be willing to help me with this..

    Best regards
