MESSNER MOUNTAIN MUSEUM CORONES

The first building in South Tyrol built by parametric criteria is at the top of a mountain. Zaha Hadid is known for its architecture in a free form, based on digital design techniques.

Nature and environment play a decisive role, architectural forms seem to blend with the outside world. The choice of cement to external and internal coatings is because no other material lends itself well to being thrown into every conceivable volumes. It is also the one that best suits the theme “rock”, both optically both touch.

The museum – mainly in hiding to interfere as little as possible with the landscape and the top of already strongly marked by man corresponds quite naturally in the environment.

” Located in Plan de Corones in Val Badia, Olang and the Puster Valley, the complete MMM Corones circuit Messner Mountain Museum, a path that consists of six museums. At the edge of views on the most spectacular mountains of South Tyrol, where it is the unique place of the museum designed by Zaha Hadid, it tells the traditional story of mountaineering.

Plan De Corones, the view extends in four directions, going – across provincial borders: Dolomites of Linz is to all'Ortles’ Where is, Marmolada south to the heights north Zillertal. The museum's windows return images from my childhood – the Odle and the pillar of Sasso di Monte Croce Up, climbing the most difficult of my life – glaciers and granite overlooking the Ahr Valley. Inside the mountain, the museum traces the evolution of modern mountaineering, the improvements achieved over the 250 recent years as regards equipment, the triumphs and tragedies that have consumed on the flanks of the most famous mountains in the world, the Matterhorn to Cerro Torre in K2, and representation of our business mountaineers, however contradictory they may seem. As in’ Other museums circuit, mountaineering is told through relics, quotes, works of art (paintings and sculptures) and transposition, in MMM Corones, mountain scenery that surrounds.

In my role as narrator of traditional climbing does not intend or trial or dramatize. On the contrary, the purpose is to condense the experiences of those who, like me, did just the comparison between’ man and mountain. At the center of the museum, no sports results or primates , but the great personalities of’ mountaineering, and philosophers and pioneers who dared “the transition’ gold "of the idea of the, whatever the reason.

Most Laden, Corones means crown. Plan de Corones, the famous mountain skiing and hiking, the peak of hang gliders and paragliders, is now home to what I see as the highlight of my museum project: a place of silence and deceleration with unforgettable views, a space where withdraw and leave the perception that opens up, to the well. The mountain becomes a space, a part of our culture. Reinhold Messner

Its inauguration will take place on 23 July and from 24, the public will have access to the rooms of the Sixth Museum of the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner. Reinhold Messner was born in Brixen, Haut-Adige, in South Tyrol, Italy, and perhaps it was this beautiful countryside that led him to develop an amazing career as a mountaineer. He is the first person to climb the world 14 peaks over 8.000 meters without oxygen. Himself, and is a major feat. But this steadfast man surprised even more when you review your record. Messner and Austrian Peter Habeler climbed Mount Everest without oxygen bottles 1978 and two years later repeated the ascent alone, becoming the first man to do. He conquered the Nanga Parbat in Pakistan, marking a milestone in the mountaineering world when he climbed the Rupal paid four thousand five hundred meters, considered the largest vertical wall of earth.

MESSNER MOUNTAIN MUSEUM CORONES

Devoted to great rocky walls, the museum is part of a suggestive natural context, the Dolomites Plan de Corones, at 2275 meters above the sea level. A panorama that architects have exalted through a fluid architecture, inserted in the context.

In the Messner Mountain Museum Corones, construction appears as an extension of the rock. Right here, Nature plays a fundamental role. Architects have indeed preferred an underground construction camouflaged in the rock and which is visible from the outside thanks to the entry. Inside, the stairs leading to the three exhibition resemble waterfalls carved into the mountain's belly. Concrete selected by architects as one material for exposed surfaces, contributes to its natural color merging with the background and evokes the typical landscape of high mountain altitudes. The building was constructed so that the high energy standards and climate CasaClima Agency Bolzano has certified tired of Building A CasaClima. (Agnese Bifulco)
